Seth v2, Jon and the Marble Fortune Express

Okay, totally unrelated to Deneb, but I updated the Seth sprite (just brushed up a few stray pixels here and there, added 4 more expressions) and made another one. Voilà. Oh and no, I'm not naming them after anyone. Just whichever name comes to mind first.

Other than writing a bit, this is all I did on Deneb today. It's (pretty blatantly) based on the Marble Boat Pavilion in the Summer Palace (IRL, I mean), but in the story, it'll be the other way around. I'd render it in 3D if I owned 3D Studio max, but I don't. I'm trying to learn Wings 3D, it's more user-friendly than Blender @_@. I'm still confuzzled though. lol, this is where the chaff gets separated from the wheat I guess. *must somehow become wheat...*



I wonder what I'll do about the music in Deneb. I'd LOVE to use Jay Chou's Zhong Guo Feng-style songs but that'd be copyright infringement or something. I don't wanna settle for some crappy midi loop...no royalty-free music either, unless it's REALLY good AND fits with the atmosphere. *shrugs*

I made a thread in the WIP section over at LSF, and was SOOOOOOOO HAPPEH!!! to see people show interest in it! And Sakurazaki-san of R3 Productions even volunteered to proofread! :D :D :D And I was even offered a spot on the R3 team, which I of course accepted! It's not every day that someone asks me that. Must...work...very hard :O :) Now I'm all fired up, hehe.

Micro-update

Did a bunch of revising, wrote a few in-between parts.

It's the Lemma Soft Forum's fifth birthday today! :) So like a lot of the other folks over there, I decided to donate a bit of my time and create something everyone can use.

Here he is. A sprite, whom I have named Seth. Just because. And OMG. If I had known it would be so much more difficult and time-consuming than I thought, I would've...well I dunno.

I JUST figured out how to scan in different dpi settings. Which means I have a ton of re-scanning to do...and I've already started colouring a few of the pics in gimp too...maybe I won't re-scan all of them, but knowing myself, my conscience probably won't let me rest easy until I do...

Been stuck in a creativity rut lately. Will escape. And write. And draw. And make REAL progress. Eventually.

Nothing significant, just felt like posting. As of today,

Part 1: 6 pages

Alright, here we go :)

Kay, I think I've more or less got the hang of this, tehe. Down to business now.

So, as it says up there in that blurby-thing^, I'm creating a visual novel. The working title is Deneb. I started it sometime last year (sad thing is, I don't remember when...I suck with dates. All numbers actually.) and I guess my goal is to finish it by the end of the year. Better yet, by this year's qi xi (August 7, if I'm not mistaken).

What I've done so far:

• Written the first chapter/act/part/whatever you call it. It's only 9 pages so far though, pretty short. But probably the longest thing I've written all my life :P
  
• Started writing part 2. It's 3 and a half pages on lined paper, will probably take up less space once it's typed up.
• Got the character designs for Deneb, and Niulang.

That's basically it so far. Maybe I'll post up the character profiles sometime.
